Mayor Muriel Bowser pairs up with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) to broadcast an urgent reminder. The deadline for high school applications in the My School DC lottery is fast approaching, with submissions due by February 3. Applications for Pre-K through 8th grade must be submitted by March 3, reported on mayor.dc.gov.

Parents choosing a school for their kids should submit the My School DC Lottery form if their child is starting Pre-K at a DC Public School (DCPS), enrolling in a dual-language program, applying to a selective citywide school, or joining any public charter school. As stated by Interim State Superintendent Dr. Antoinette S. Mitchell, “Explore our schools – I know you will find the perfect fit among the many outstanding options the city offers – and log on to the My School DC website to submit an application. Deadlines are approaching fast, and I encourage parents and caregivers to apply today!” Assistance is on standby, Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm at the My School DC hotline, reachable at (202) 888-6336 or through [email protected], according to the official announcement.

The lottery results will be released on March 28. If deadlines are missed, a backup plan is available. High school late applications open on February 4, and applications for all grades open on March 4. Late applicants will be placed on waitlists, behind those who applied on time. More details on waitlisting are available on mayor.dc.gov.
