In a high-stakes intervention yesterday, Douglas County deputies swiftly acted to protect pedestrians from a stolen vehicle barreling in reverse through a King Soopers parking lot. The incident, which could have escalated into tragedy, was averted due to the prompt response of local law enforcement.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, a deputy on patrol spotted a male and a female entering the stolen car. Once the deputy initiated emergency signaling, the driver reversed at high speed toward a nearby group of pedestrians. A fellow deputy, in a decisive move, positioned his patrol vehicle as a barrier between the reversing car, and the innocent bystanders, preventing potential harm.
The driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as Joseph Blodgett, 29, from Denver, now faces multiple charges, including reckless endangerment and motor vehicle theft. His companion, Amanda Conklin, 39, of Littleton, was found in possession of a stolen driver's license and has been charged with identity theft, among other offenses.
