An incident of gun violence in Durham last night left one man injured, as confirmed by the Durham Police Department. Responding to reports of a shooting at around 10:09 p.m. on the 1200 block of Naples Place, officers found the victim with a gunshot wound. According to CBS17, the man's injuries were non-life-threatening, and he was taken to an area hospital. As of last night, the shooting remains under investigation with no arrests or named suspects.

In related news, Durham Police have taken two juveniles into custody following a multi-county car chase that involved gunfire directed at a state trooper. The two suspects, aged 14 and 15, were apprehended on separate occasions after investigators located an abandoned black Infinity suspected to be linked to the case. ABC11 reported that a cache of four firearms was seized during the arrest of a 15-year-old, and the second suspect was detained shortly after a separate search warrant was executed.

The juveniles are now facing serious charges including attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, amongst others. The events unfolded after officers first attempted to intervene with the stolen vehicle in Durham, leading to the teens firing shots at a trooper and striking parked cars during the pursuit into Chapel Hill. WRAL detailed how the suspects donning ski masks ditched the car at a dead end before being eventually captured by the authorities.

Colonel Freddy L. Johnson Jr., of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, commended the collaboration of local law enforcement, stating on WRAL, "I am appreciative of the persistent efforts of the Durham Police Department and Chapel Hill Police Department for their work in apprehending those involved in last weekend’s shooting at a State Highway Patrol Trooper."
