Early yesterday morning, a significant fire in Fayetteville resulted in three people sustaining injuries, with nine others displaced from their homes. Multiple news outlets reported the incident, giving rise to a narrative of unexpected distress and community upheaval that unfolded at 1046 Tammy Street.
The inferno, which officials say consumed the residence near the intersection of Murchison Road and I-295, was reported around 8:30 a.m. Upon arriving, firefighters from the Fayetteville Fire Department witnessed smoke and flames billowing from the single-story home, according to CBS17. The assistant fire chief, Michael Autry, dubbed the house a "total loss," as detailed in a report from ABC11.
During the rescue operations, one individual was found within the home's suffocating confines and extracted with grave injuries, later being transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Two other victims, discovered outside the premise by the time responders made their entry, were also taken to the same medical facility. The extent of their afflictions remains undisclosed, with the Fayetteville Fire Department withholding the identities of the afflicted, a common practice amid ongoing investigations and privacy concerns.
WRAL News provided further context, noting that the property was part of the J&L Mobile Home Park #2, intensifying the fire's impact on a presumably close-knit residential community. In a Facebook post executed by firefighters while ensnared by flames and smoke still active on the scene, they advised the public to steer clear of the vicinity around Tammy Street, WRAL reported.
