The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has recently accepted Fincantieri ACE Marine (FAM) into its Green Tier program, setting a positive environmental precedent for maritime industry players. As reported by the Wisconsin DNR, the initiative is designed to acknowledge and support Wisconsin-based companies that commit to exceptional environmental performance, going further than basic compliance to actually improve their impact on the planet.
By joining the Green Tier program's Tier 1, FAM has set themselves the ambitious goal of developing and implementing an environmental management system within the next year, which is eagerly anticipated by the Wisconsin DNR. Connie Antonuk, DNR Secretary's Director for Northeast Wisconsin, expressed delight in FAM's decision, noting, "FAM demonstrates leadership and commitment to the environment by joining Green Tier." Antonuk's statement reveals a company striving not only to meet the expected standards but to exceed them, aiming for recognition such as the ISO 14001 certification.
Located in Green Bay, Fincantieri ACE Marine represents the U.S. division of Fincantieri, one of the world's largest shipbuilding enterprises, and is known for its innovative aluminum vessel construction. The company's capabilities range across both commercial and governmental sectors, producing crafts that promise safety, durability, and high performance. Notably, the Green Bay facility plays a crucial role in the construction of various vessels such as the Response Boat-Medium crafts for the U.S. Coast Guard, among others.
"FAM is committed to improving our environmental performance," said D'Onne Murray on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website, Quality Systems Coordinator at Fincantieri ACE Marine. Murray stated in an announcement that the partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the enrollment in Green Tier will bolster efficiency and provide greater transparency of their efforts. As a widely-regarded producer of high-performance marine vessels, FAM's state-of-the-art plant on the Fox River features climate-controlled workshops and modern welding technologies, underlying the company's ability to innovate and adapt in an increasingly eco-conscious market.
