A Harford County couple's routine purchase of lottery tickets has catapulted them into a new financial stratum after they scored a $1 million second-tier prize in the December 10 Mega Millions drawing. According to Nottingham, MD, the couple, self-proclaimed lifelong Baltimore Ravens fans, kept their tradition of playing the lottery, which eventually paid off in a major way.
The husband, who has unwittingly held onto the winning ticket for a few days, bought four Mega Millions tickets from a local Wawa store at 709 Bel Air Road. Encountering fortune, he was checking the numbers online, whereupon one of his wife's tickets came up with matching numbers for the hefty prize. "Floored, he rushed to wake me," his wife told the publication." In an interview with Shore News Network, the winner recalled the moment her husband disrupted her sleep to share the news, still in disbelief herself.
The couple has reportedly kept the news within their immediate family circle and have expressed prudent plans for their windfall. The pair intends to ensure financial security for the foreseeable future. "We’re going to save and invest most of it," the wife stated as per Nottingham MD. They also plan to offer assistance to family members in need, contribute a portion to their church, and, defying the odds, continue playing the lottery, echoing a resolute "Yes!" to the question of whether they'd keep up the habit. Despite the life-altering win, it seems the couple's commitment to the game remains unshaken.
