The Jacksonville Police Department has introduced seven new officers to its ranks following a rigorous training program that began last August. In a recent post on their Facebook page, the Jacksonville Police Department announced the addition of Justin Coolman, Steven Stankiewicz, Bradley Stroup, Kevin Abreu, Dakota Coolman, Tiernan Hughes, and Matthew Williams, who all successfully completed Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) in December, a demanding course featuring over 600 hours of various disciplines.
Having surpassed the challenges of BLET, the newcomers are now undergoing a slew of advanced training aimed to ease their transition into the role of Patrol Officers; this includes immersion into the agency's specific policies and procedures, the mastery of Jacksonville's geography, and proficiency with the agency's firearms, the officers have also been familiarizing themselves with standardized field sobriety testing among other critical skills.
The completion of BLET is not just an end, but also the commencement of a deeper journey into law enforcement for these officers, making their induction a notable event for Jacksonville's public safety landscape. Once the advanced sessions conclude, these officers are expected to embark on a series of field training and evaluations, further solidifying their preparedness for the challenges that come with serving and protecting the community.
The Jacksonville Police Department is not only celebrating these new additions but also looking to expand its team, as indicated in the announcement; interested individuals are invited to join the force and can inquire by contacting the department's Hiring Division at 910-455-4000, the department's intent to add more dedicated officials to their team is clear as they continue to recruit Police Officer Trainees in an effort to uphold public safety and service.
