Tragedy struck early this year on a busy Las Vegas roadway when a pedestrian involved in a collision with a vehicle on January 6 succumbed to their injuries ten days later. The sad turn of events was confirmed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section when they were notified by the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner on Thursday. The incident that led to the 45-year-old male pedestrian's fatal injuries occurred on East Tropicana Avenue, east of the intersection with South Nellis Boulevard.

According to the LVMPD's report, the collision took place at around 7:30 p.m., when the pedestrian attempted to cross the avenue from north to south, stepping off the median into the path of an oncoming 2014 Chrysler 300. The vehicle, which was traveling eastbound in the leftmost lane, struck the pedestrian, causing him to suffer critical injuries. Despite the quick response of Emergency Medical Services and transport to Sunrise Hospital, the individual ultimately could not overcome the injuries sustained.

The driver of the Chrysler, identified as 67-year-old Susette Windham-Steward, remained at the scene following the accident and was determined not to be under the influence of any impairing substances. As the authorities continue their investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the collision, this incident has been labeled as the 13th traffic-related fatality in the area for the year 2025. The name of the deceased pedestrian has been withheld pending notification of relatives.
