The Lewisville Police Department took to social media to deliver a post-New Year's report, shedding light on the evening's less-than-peaceful celebrations. In a recent Facebook post, well wishes for a united start to 2025 were coupled with a candid snapshot of festive misdemeanors that peppered the night. The department reported a busy evening with "220 calls for service" from the last evening of December into the dawn of January 1.
As fireworks painted the skies, their sound wasn't the only thing that kept the police department occupied, the report went on to detail the night encapsulated by noise with "45 fireworks complaints" and "13 gunshot heard reports," the sound of revelry and recklessness merging into the tapestry of the night, while the festivities had a boisterous edge, the majority of residents showed commendable restraint concerning drink driving. Yet, "two individuals decided to test their luck," both of whom were apprehended, as part of the "14 total arrests" including "2 DWI arrests" made that night, according to the Facebook post made by the Lewisville Police Department.
In the wake of the holiday season reverie and a night filled with both celebration and censure, the Lewisville Police Department's social media message was clear. Ending their reflection with a call to action, the police urged the community to strive for a more serene 2025, hinting at aspirations for nights that strike a balance between festivity and tranquillity. They underscored this sentiment with a hopeful note: "Let’s make 2025 the year we all aim a little higher (and quieter)!" The department expressed a goal of fostering a community atmosphere that all could take pride in celebrating without the need for police intervention.
