Braga Fresh, a California-based company, is recalling 12-ounce packages of ready-to-eat Marketside Broccoli Florets due to possible Listeria contamination. The recall affects Walmart stores in 20 states, including Michigan, after a positive test for the bacteria was found in a Texas store during random sampling, according to WZZM13.
Broccoli with a "best if used by" date of Dec. 10, 2024, UPC 6 81131 32884 5, and lot code BFFG327A6 is being recalled due to possible Listeria contamination. Listeria can cause "serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems." The product is no longer on store shelves, but consumers may still have it in their freezers. Symptoms include fever, headache, nausea, and abdominal pain, as stated by MLive.
Customers who purchased the recalled Marketside Broccoli Florets are urged to dispose of the product due to possible contamination. This recall affects only one lot of broccoli and does not involve other Marketside or Braga Fresh products. No illnesses have been reported. For assistance, consumers can contact Braga Fresh at 1-877-456-7445 (Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST) or email [email protected], as reported by WXYZ.
