The City of Long Beach is doubling down on early childhood development with the roll-out of its second annual Parent Informational Workshop series. In a team-up feat worth noting, the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (Health Department) alongside Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) aims to connect families to crucial early childhood education resources.
Parents and caregivers, particularly those with kiddos from the tender ages of zero to a bubbly five, are the main audience for this initiative. As indicated by the City of Long Beach, workshops will cover topics ranging from “speech and language development" to “managing behaviors" and “early start intervention." It’s a proactive push to connect Long Beach families grappling with developmental concerns with the right services posthaste.
Mayor Rex Richardson is all in on this program, heralding it as a step toward nurturing children’s development and by extension bolstering the community’s future. “We are committed to supporting families and giving every child the best start in life,” he said,as stated by the City of Long Beach. Courses are scheduled to tackle various subjects, with actual field experts teaching them
Help Me Grow LA has been instrumental in supporting these workshops. This collaborative effort between First 5 LA and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has helped Long Beach complete a $500,000 three-year grant, as per the City of Long Beach. The funding focuses on improving referral pathways to ensure children with developmental issues receive necessary support.
