
A tragic start to the new year unfolded in Lynnwood, where two boys' lives were violently disrupted; one fatally injured and another hospitalized following a shooting incident Wednesday night. KOMO News reports that the Lynnwood Police were called to the scene near the Somerset Village Apartments and the YWCA of King and Snohomish County around 8:20 p.m., where they found a boy lifeless in the parking lot.
The deceased suffered from gunshot wounds; his name has not been released pending notification of kin, police continue their search for two juvenile suspects believed to have fled on foot shortly after the shooting, as the evening turned grim with the unanswered call of violence and loss. According to Lynnwood Times, this shooting on New Year's Eve is now under active investigation with the assailants still at large.
Details about what preceded the violence remain unclear, but another young boy was found injured nearby, according to KING 5. He was quickly transported to a hospital with injuries that were thankfully not considered life-threatening. This second young victim's current condition is being monitored as he recovers from the trauma inflicted upon him adjacent to innocent play and living.
The police have not yet provided a description of the suspects nor a motive for the shooting.
