Macomb County is gearing up once more for its annual tree and plant sale, a staple event offering a variety of greenery at wallet-friendly prices. The sale, organized by Green Macomb and the Blue Water Conservation District, will run from February 3 through April 4. The Macomb County website invites the community to enhance their private and public spaces with new foliage.
In a release, Gerard Santoro, the Macomb County Parks and Natural Resources program director, highlighted the sale's positive impact on local aesthetics and environmental health. "Not only does this enhance our neighborhoods, it increases our overall green canopy, which is a goal of our Green Macomb program," Santoro said, per the county's press release. The benefits include mitigating air pollution, cutting energy costs, and better water runoff management. Since its inception eight years ago, the sale has moved over 100,000 trees and plants to residents, businesses, and organizations within the county, suggesting a substantial contribution to local green infrastructure efforts.
Purchases can be retrieved in person or transported directly to homes, offering convenience to participants. Two pick-up locations are designated in Macomb County: the Armada Fairgrounds on April 21 and 22, followed by the Clinton Township Civic Center on April 24 and 25. A limited quantity of trees and plants will be also available for purchase at the pickup sites, ensuring that even last-minute attendees can partake in the sale. All the details and logistics are available for those looking to plant a seed of change in their locality via the Green Macomb website's dedicated section for the tree and plant sale.
