
Warren, Michigan's quiet weekend was disrupted when firefighters responded to an apartment fire that severely injured a man. The Detroit News reported that the incident occurred in a four-unit complex on the 15000 block of Republic Avenue, where a 40-year-old man was rescued from his second-floor unit with severe burns. According to the Warren Fire Department, the heavy smoke and flames were centered in the kitchen, and while the firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze by 8 p.m., there was smoke and water damage to the rest of the units.
The firefighters found the man amidst the inferno and the urgency of the flames and determined that his injuries required immediate medical attention, so he was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital, Audacy reported. While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, crews were swift to act, fully extinguishing the fire within half an hour of their arrival, ensuring no other residents were harmed during the incident.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze. Fortunately, no other injuries have been reported, though the surviving residents now face the challenge of dealing with smoke and water damage. According to an update from Audacy, the fire department had the flames under control by 7:38 p.m. and fully extinguished shortly after.
