Christopher Moore, 25, and Nicholas Moore, 19, were caught after a failed bank robbery in Sand Lake. They stole just $335, and their brief crime spree turned out to be more about mistakes than criminal skill.
On Monday, the brothers tried to rob the Independent Bank, thinking it would be "it’s kind of like a small-town easy way to escape." Christopher later admitted, "Christopher said he knew he made a mistake and that he was the mastermind," adding, "because that’s what all criminals do." Nicholas, who drove the getaway car, helped plan the escape. Their plan fell apart when police traced them to a Meijer store, where they bought Covid masks and duct tape to hide Christopher’s tattoos. The brothers were arrested and now face life in prison for a robbery that netted a small amount of money, according to WOOD TV.
Christopher and Nicholas Moore attempted a bank robbery, handing the teller a note that read, "this is a robbery, no tracers, no dye packs." They were quickly caught, and in court, Christopher was denied bond, while Nicholas’s bond was set at $500,000. Nicholas claimed the robbery was driven by financial struggles, saying, "We just went with it because I’m in debt." The brothers’ failed crime is now a cautionary tale, with their next court appearance scheduled later this month, as covered by WZZM 13 and FOX 17 News.
