
An early morning inferno at the Huntington Apartments in Morrisville has left 15 residents without a home, as reported by CBS17. The blaze, which commenced just before the stroke of 5:30 a.m., precipitated extensive damage to two dwelling units and impacted a total of eight within the complex; authorities and fire officials continue to investigate the exact cause of the occurrence.
Among those affected was Marshall Crawley, who recounted the chaos of his unexpected awakening to flames consuming part of the complex, "I put on the first clothes I could find, I got outside, I heard sirens ... there was already several firetrucks here," he told WRAL News. The Morrisville Fire Department, which was at the scene to combat the fire, confirmed that there were no injuries and all pets had been safely accounted for - residents managed to evacuate in time despite the early hour and surprise of the event.
The fire predominantly originated on the second floor, leaving behind a sizable hole in the roof and causing smoke and water damage to other units in the building, as described in the coverage by ABC11. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the displaced individuals amidst the ongoing efforts to ascertain the intertwining factors that led to the conflagration.
Emergency response teams from the Morrisville Fire Department promptly addressed the situation as distressed tenants watched the unfolding emergency, and one resident provided WRAL News with a photograph that captured plumes of smoke filling the edifice, "It was a pretty big fire," said Crawley encapsulating the severity of the flames that engulfed their living spaces and the Red Cross is stepping in to help those who now face the abrupt displacement from their homes.
