A serious injury was reported following a motorcycle crash on W. Sahara Avenue, east of S. Decatur Boulevard, on the afternoon last Saturday. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department indicates a Kawasaki motorcycle was involved in the incident, occurring at approximately 3:01 p.m. The rider, identified as 33-year-old Tyler Kellum from Las Vegas, was rushed to UMC Trauma and is currently in serious condition.

According to the information provided by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the motorcycle was traveling westbound on W. Sahara Avenue and approaching S. Decatur Boulevard at a speed greater than the posted limit, when an unrelated crash between another motorcycle and a vehicle took place. In an effort to evade the ongoing accident, Kellum applied brakes which resulted in the Kawasaki overturning, and subsequently, the rider was thrown onto the roadway median. The motorcycle continued, eventually colliding with a raised center median and coming to a halt in the roadway.

Despite the sequence of events, impairment has not been considered a factor in this crash. The LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section is actively investigating the specifics to understand the dynamics of the crash fully. Meanwhile, Kellum's condition at UMC Trauma remains serious.

The motorcycle in question, a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250cc, was the only vehicle cited in Kellum's accident. Traffic in the area experienced delays as the scene was processed by local authorities, and the Kawasaki was eventually cleared from the westbound travel lanes. Officials have not released further details about the condition of those involved in the initial unrelated collision, on W. Sahara Avenue.
