Residents of New Lisbon, Wisconsin, are reeling from the tragic discovery of three deceased individuals in a local residence on Monday, as confirmed by news outlets. As the community seeks answers, law enforcement has identified 47-year-old Virgil Thew as a key figure in the investigation.
Thew, described by police as a white male, roughly 5'10" tall, and weighing about 150 pounds, was last seen attired in a dark down coat and hat. Despite the fact, that Thew is currently wanted through Wisconsin Probation and Parole, the police caution the public that he should be considered armed and, dangerous. The public is urged to avoid engaging with him, and to instead contact authorities immediately upon sighting, according to a statement obtained by FOX6 News.
In a move diverging from typical protocol, News 3 Now has released the name of the person of interest prior to formal charges being laid, a decision justified by the severity of the situation. The New Lisbon Police Department communicated that further details would be disclosed to the public tomorrow, as mentioned in a report by Channel 3000.
The case took on additional complexity following revelations that Virgil Thew had connections to two missing juveniles, which, came to light before the grisly find in New Lisbon. Efforts to locate a missing juvenile from neighboring Monroe County led investigators to Thew, whose ties to the area were well known, according to a release provided by WQOW News. The tragic discovery on West Bridge Street in New Lisbon included both juveniles and one adult, intensifying the manhunt for Thew and the importance of community vigilance.
As the investigation presses on, and mourns, law enforcement agencies including the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Juneau County and Monroe County sheriffs' departments, have pooled their efforts in processing the evidence gathered at the scene.
