During his announcement, Oelslager noted the unanimous decision to establish "Rutherford B. Hayes Day" on October 4th with Senate Bill 62, a move that pays homage to the 19th president of the United States. Advanced practice registered nurses are set to gain from Sub. Senate Bill 196, voted in at 89-1, aims to modernize Ohio law governing the nursing profession—meanwhile, Sub. Senate Bill 237, which Oelslager co-sponsored, received an 84-0 nod to enact the Uniform Public Expression Protection Act to combat "Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation," in a move that expedites the dismissal of such cases, according to details reported by Ohio House of Representative News.
The legal sphere also sees tweaks with Sub. Senate Bill 37, which addresses penalties related to drug abuse offenses and insurance proof about driver's license suspensions, passed 87-4 in a bid to assist inmates in reintegrating into society, Sub. Senate Bill 198, another legislation co-sponsored by Oelslager, requires providing state ID cards and education documentation to eligible inmates, which commanded unanimous support.
Finally, Sub. Senate Bill 41 rounds off the legislative updates with an 86-0 passage to improve the efficiency of Ohio's building inspection process by allowing for expedited appeals.
