Residents in Pasadena who have been dealing with the ramifications of the Eaton Fire can breathe a slight sigh of relief, as Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) shared some good news about the local water quality. According to the City of Pasadena, additional areas previously covered under the Do-Not-Drink-Water Notice are now declared safe for drinking. This comes after diligent repair of facilities affected by the Eaton Fire and comprehensive water quality testing.
Remaining under the notice, advice has been given to customers in the impacted areas still to avoid drinking or cooking with their tap water. "Attempting to treat, boil, freeze, filter or add chlorine or other disinfectant to the water will not make it safe to drink," cautioned PWP, as per the City of Pasadena. Residents are directed to PWP's website for a complete map of the current affected zones and FAQs about safely using the water for non-consumptive purposes, such as showering.
The update indicates that only about 4% of PWP's service connections remain impacted by the Do-Not-Drink-Water Notice. While this is a step forward, PWP stays devoted to reinstating safe drinking water for the rest. PWP crews are reportedly working non-stop to ensure drinking water safety and have been thankful for the support from neighboring water agencies including the Metropolitan Water District.
For the latest updates and information related to the Eaton Fire's effect on local water quality, PWP has urged citizens to stay tuned to their social media feeds or their website. To stay connected and informed, Pasadena residents are also encouraged to follow the City of Pasadena's social media on various platforms or for direct inquiries, contact the City Service Center during established business hours.
