The City of Philadelphia is paving the way for more user-friendly governance by introducing QR codes on all Notice of Violations, a change starting today. The Department of Licenses and Inspections announced that these codes are meant to simplify how citizens and stakeholders address violations they receive. Upon receiving a notice, individuals can now just scan the QR code, which will direct them to a dedicated section of the City's website for specific resolution instructions.
This innovative approach is designed to cut through the usual red tape associated with bureaucratic processes, delivering straightforward, step-by-step guidance for resolving common violations. According to the City of Philadelphia’s announcement, the website will adapt, and grow with new content and instructions to continue meeting public needs. Moreover, the page accessible via the QR code supports over 120 languages, an effort that ensures the diverse population of Philadelphia won't be barred by language barriers when seeking to resolve violations.
Basil Merenda, the Commissioner of Inspections, Safety and Compliance, expressed optimism about the initiative. “We’re excited to roll out this new initiative that not only provides clear instructions but also makes the process more accessible to everyone,” he told the City of Philadelphia.
Individuals seeking further information or clarity on specific violations can visit the Department of Licenses and Inspections website or get in touch via their direct line at (215) 255-4040.
