A Philadelphia jury has convicted Eric Alamo for his involvement in a harrowing incident of kidnapping and robbery dating back to 2021. According to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, the verdict arrived this past week, finding Alamo guilty of several offenses, including Robbery (F1), Kidnapping for Ransom (F1), Conspiracy (F1), and Unlawful Restraint/Serious Bodily Injury (M1).
District Attorney Larry Krasner, along with First Assistant Robert Listenbee and members of the Homicide and Non-Fatal Shooting Unit, made the announcement, highlighting the connection between the police and the DA's office that led to Alamo's conviction. In a detailed recount of the incident, the prosecutors described how Alamo, aided by two accomplices, kidnapped the victim in the city's Kensington section. The victim was assaulted, bound with duct tape, and robbed through CashApp and physically before his abductors moved to target his wife and child.
On the night of the crime, Alamo coerced the victim's wife, under the pretense of ransom, to bring money and narcotics. She alerted her sister, who subsequently informed the Bensalem Police Department, culminating in law enforcement's timely intervention at a hotel in Bensalem, PA. Once there, officers found the victims and apprehended Alamo, alongside evidence including duct tape with the victim's DNA and a firearm with Alamo's DNA.
"I'm grateful for Assistant District Attorney Kyle Russell's skilled prosecution of this case," DA Krasner stated, according to a press release. ADA Russell expressed his thanks to the jury for their just verdict and to the Bensalem and Philadelphia police departments for their efforts in the investigation. The Philadelphia DA's office is tasked with the prosecution of around 40,000 criminal cases yearly, serving more than 1.5 million residents with a sizeable staff of lawyers, detectives, and support personnel.
