Starting the new year with a new life, UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh celebrated the arrival of its first baby of 2025 just as the city rang in the new year. The newborn, Genesis, made her debut at precisely 12:10 a.m., signaling the start of many more beginnings. According to WPXI, Genesis weighed six pounds five ounces and measured 19 inches in length.
Genesis's arrival was celebrated by her parents, Jake Pertras and Dae-Janae Hippsshelton of New Brighton, and by the hospital staff, who witnessed the joyous start of the year. CBS News Pittsburgh reported that UPMC noted Genesis "knows how to make an entrance" and dubbed her the first UPMC Pittsburgh baby of the year.
Each new year's baby traditionally brings a sense of hope and renewal, and little Genesis's birth was no exception. The medical team at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital shared the excitement of this special arrival, with cheers and congratulations echoing through the halls.
