A 22-year-old man was arrested by the Pueblo County Sheriff's deputies in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred Thursday night in Colorado City. The incident took place in a home located on the 3700 block of Colorado Boulevard, where deputies arrived shortly before 7 p.m. following reports of a shooting, as per Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. While transported to the local hospital for treatment, despite the life-saving measures performed, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The name of the man and the details regarding the cause and manner of his death will be disclosed by the Pueblo Coroner's Office when it is deemed appropriate. Having arrived too late, the life-saving efforts were in vain.
The early stages of the investigation led authorities to suspect that Jason M. Valdez, a resident of the home in question, was the shooter. Valdez was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the shooting. Valdez now finds himself booked into the Pueblo County Jail, waiting for the legal proceedings to unfold.
