
A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck in Puyallup, which led to the arrest of the pickup driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. The incident occurred yesterday evening, as confirmed by the Puyallup Police Department. The motorcyclist, identified as a 28-year-old man from Pierce County, was transported to the hospital following the collision, which took place around 6 p.m. on 39th Avenue Southwest, near the intersection with 7th Street Southwest.
According to the KOMO News report, the pickup, driven by a 72-year-old man also from Pierce County, failed to yield upon entering the road and collided with the motorcycle. Arrested shortly after being evaluated for impairment, the driver is being held on suspicion of DUI. Standing across the street, the crash's impact was visible as it sent the motorcycle and its rider flying.
The investigation into the collision was conducted by the Metro Major Collision Response Team, causing road closures on 39th Avenue Southwest from Ninth Street Southwest to Fifth Street Southwest, as mentioned by KIRO 7. These closures were anticipated to last several hours as authorities investigated the crash scene.
