A vehicular incident in a Raleigh neighborhood resulted in three people being hospitalized and a temporary power outage for residents yesterday afternoon. The Raleigh Police Department received reports of the accident near the intersection of Tarboro Street and Oakwood Avenue at approximately 2:05 p.m., as noted by WRAL. Raleigh police said that once they arrived at the scene, they discovered that an SUV had rolled onto its side and collided with a utility pole, leaving the vehicle entrapped by live wires.

According to the CBS17 report, the accident caused significant distress for approximately 32 Duke Energy customers, whose power was knocked out due to the crash until it was restored at 4:45 p.m. Trapped inside the vehicle by the downed power lines, two adults and a juvenile were extracted and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, however they are now stable.

Further details from ABC11 indicate that the car came to rest on its side after the crash. First responders worked diligently to retrieve the individuals from the car. They were all hospitalized, and while the extent of their injuries initially appeared severe, they are now considered to be non-life-threatening.

While the cause of the crash remains undetermined at the time, authorities believe that the incident happened due to the driver suffering a medical emergency, unfortunately leading into the utility pole. Observations made by Sky 5 before 2:45 p.m. showed the burgundy SUV as it lay on its side after seeming to have taken down the power pole. The Raleigh police said that what they called "non-life-threatening" injuries were sustained by two adults and a juvenile, all taken to the hospital, as WRAL reported.
