Raleigh residents are bracing for a bout of inclement weather today, with the National Weather Service in Raleigh, NC reporting 100% chance of rain before 2 pm and new precipitation amounts between a quarter, and half of an inch possible. Conditions are expected to clear towards the evening, though the temperatures will drop significantly, paving the way for a brisk and sunny Tuesday.
The forecast for the rest of the week looks cold but clear, with high temperatures barely scraping the low 40s and nighttime lows hovering around the freezing point. Come Friday night, the weather is set to take another turn, as the National Weather Service forecasts a 50% chance of snow, followed by possible rain and snow over the weekend.
However, conditions are expected to worsen this evening as an Arctic cold front moves in, with the National Weather Service issuing a Hazardous Weather Outlook. "West northwesterly winds will abruptly strengthen and gust between 35 and 45 mph with the passage of an Arctic cold front this evening," the advisory warns. Raleigh and its surrounding areas should prepare for a gusty evening that could impact travel and outdoor activities.
The outlook for Tuesday through Sunday does not forecast any hazardous weather, providing a respite after today's rain and tonight's gusty conditions. The days are expected to remain sunny throughout the week with the cold maintaining its grip. Meanwhile, residents are advised to stay informed on the latest weather updates and ensure personal safety against potential wind hazards tonight.
