The District Department of Transportation's (DDOT) Taylor Street Protected Bikeway Open House has a new date. Initially scheduled for last Saturday, the event was postponed due to weather concerns, but DDOT announced it is now slated for February 1. The rescheduled open house aims to engage the community in shaping a safer, more efficient travel experience along Taylor Street NE, stretching from North Capitol St NW to South Dakota Ave NE, as per the District Department of Transportation.
The updated gathering is set for Saturday, February 1, at the Woodridge Neighborhood Library located at 1801 Hamlin St NE, with the doors open to participants from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There's no fixed schedule, so that attendees can drop in anytime within those hours. Anne Welch, the project manager, encourages citizens to lay forth their challenges about walking, biking, public transport, or driving on Taylor Street NE. Their feedback is crucial in crafting the preferred conceptual design for the bikeway that prioritizes service and safety.
For those unable to attend, materials from the meeting will be accessible on the project's website within 72 hours after the open house concludes. Providing an additional avenue for community involvement, comments can be submitted on the bikeway project directly through the website.
In addition, the agency provides language assistance for those who speak Spanish or French. Interested parties should call 202-671-2700 to obtain these services, again free. As ever, DDOT's efforts, underscored by transparency, are geared toward fostering a community-forward infrastructure that will serve Taylor Street's diverse population for years.
