Rivers Casino Philadelphia is in the midst of addressing a significant data breach, with details emerging about compromised customer information. In a statement obtained by Action News, a spokesperson for the casino, Jack Horner, confirmed unauthorized access to the casino's computer systems, leading to the potential exposure of sensitive personal data.
The incident was first detected around November 18, 2024, according to a lawsuit filed on behalf of a Philadelphia resident. This lawsuit, which is aiming for class-action status, claims customers' social security numbers and bank information may have been vulnerable. The casino began the process of notifying customers last Monday, December 30, 2024, as outlined by Levi & Korsinsky, LLP, a law firm investigating the breach. According to CBS News Philadelphia, users who have experienced a disruption from this breach may be eligible for financial compensation, with details provided on the law firm's website.
Rivers Casino has so far not specified the scope of the data breach, including exactly what information was accessed or how many customers have been affected. A spokesperson from Rivers Casino explained to NBC10 that upon discovering the incident, the involved systems were immediately secured, and an investigation was launched.
In addition to the Radnor firm's lawsuit, at least two other law firms have reportedly filed similar legal actions in Pennsylvania's Eastern District Court this week. Those affected by the breach or concerned about the use of their personal information are advised to consult the resources provided by Levi & Korsinsky, LLP, and remain vigilant for any suspicious account activity.
