The Miami Heat, fueled by a standout performance from rookie Kel'el Ware, secured a 128-107 victory over the San Antonio Spurs yesterday. Ware, hitting his season's peak with 25 points, alongside Duncan Robinson's sharp 5-of-7 shooting from downtown, steered the team out of a three-game slump. The win at home, as reported by FOX San Antonio, also snapped Miami's three-game streak of stumbles on their own turf at the Kaseya Center.
Jimmy Butler added to the Heat's offensive arsenal, chalking up eight points, and seven assists in his return following a seven-game suspension for "conduct detrimental to the team," CBS News Miami notes. The team's resurgence wasn't unilateral, Terry Rozier contributed with 20 points, while Tyler Herro poured in 18, 16 of which came after halftime. Nikol Jovic, with a timely 3-pointer, bolstered the Heat's third-quarter breakaway surge.
On the flip side, the Spurs, who have been grappling with consistency this season, were led by Devin Vassell's 23 points. French phenom Victor Wembanyama pitched in with 21. Their efforts, however, were not enough to steer the team clear of a third consecutive loss, leaving their mid-season record at a shaky 19-22.
The turning point for the Heat, according to CBS News Miami, came late in the second quarter when Robinson, and Rozier sank back-to-back 3-pointers to secure the lead and highlight an 11-0 run. Despite a rocky start from the arc, missing their initial eight attempts, Miami heated up to finish 18 of 33 from deep.
Looking ahead, the Spurs are set to swap their home courts for an international stage as they head to Paris for an upcoming dual against Indiana on Thursday and Saturday. Meanwhile, the Heat will attempt to continue their rekindled winning flame as they host Portland on Tuesday night.
