A 20-year-old man from Southern Pines is currently sought by authorities after allegedly stabbing his own father. According to ABC11, the incident occurred yesterday at around 12:40 p.m. at 114 Cypress Circle, where officers, upon their arrival, discovered the victim's of several stab wounds and was subsequently hospitalized for treatment.
The suspect, identified as Chase Alexander Terziu, reportedly fled the scene in his father's GMC truck, which police say they later found abandoned in Brunswick County, thus suggesting he may still be at large and that during the time immediately following the stabbing, Terziu's whereabouts are currently unknown; and, despite finding the GMC truck, police indicated that he remained elusive. As mentioned in a report by CBS17, authorities have issued a warrant for Terziu's arrest on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, larceny of a motor vehicle, and larceny of a firearm and have cautioned that he is believed to be armed and should be considered dangerous.
In an unrelated but equally unsettling incident, officers from NC State University arrested 33-year-old Zachary Watkins earlier today. According to WRAL, Watkins is accused of breaking into student housing at Chowan Hall and attempting arson, as well as assaulting police officers during his apprehension which included a foot chase where after the NC State police deployed a Taser before finally arresting him.
Watkins' night of disturbance at NC State's Chowan Hall, part of Kings Village, did not stop at attempted fire-setting, for during the altercation, he assaulted three officers by throwing a fire extinguisher at them, kicking, and grabbing an officer by the neck, the officers sustained minor injuries didn't require treatment, however, the whole situation did not trigger a WolfAlert since Watkins was immediately detained, ended in his arrest with minor injuries sustained by the officers involved, and they did not issue a WolfAlert because the threat was neutralized quickly. The Southern Pines Police Department urges anyone with information about Terziu's location to call (910) 692-7031 or contact the Investigation Division directly at (910) 693-1481.
