A 47-year-old Sturgis man, identified as Erik Miller, has recently been sentenced to serve 70 months in prison for his role in a drug distribution operation leveraging the dark web. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Michigan detailed that Miller pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge related to the distribution and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, reported WOODTV.

Miller's involvement began in 2022 when he collaborated with a dark web vendor to illegally distribute counterfeit Xanax pills and controlled substances, such as methamphetamine and MDMA. According to what WWMT reported, Miller egregiously took part in circulating prescription drugs without the necessary medical authorizations. At the height of the operation, Miller would ship out five to fifteen drug packages weekly.

Investigations escalated in April 2023 when authorities executed a search warrant at Miller's residence. As per WOODTV, this led to the discovery of a trove of controlled substances, MDMA, methamphetamine, and signs indicative of a drug trafficking operation.

"One pill can kill," U.S. Attorney Mark Totten emphasized—highlighting the fatal risk counterfeit medications pose—conveyed in the report by FOX 17 News.
