A year-long investigation into organized retail theft in Metro Detroit has culminated in the arrest of three men and the recovery of thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods. According to ClickOnDetroit, Canton Township police have identified a Valero Gas Station in Detroit as the nexus of a scheme that involved buying and selling goods pilfered from various retailers across the area.

The police probe began in the fall of 2024 and suspected the gas station of fencing stolen items, particularly "large quantities of stolen energy drinks." These products were allegedly bought from "boosters," who had taken them from stores such as Walmart, Sam’s Club, Meijer, and Home Depot. Last Wednesday, the Canton police executed search warrants at the gas station near Grand Boulevard and Linwood Street and a residence in Dearborn, arresting three individuals and securing the suspected stolen merchandise, Hometownlife reported.

The arrested are Aziz Awadh, 40, Hamood Fatteh, 22, and Safwan Awadh, 38. The charges against them include conducting a criminal enterprise, organized retail crime, and using a computer to commit a crime. The circumstances of their arraignment were detailed by FOX 2 Detroit, noting that the bond was set at $10,000 with a following court date scheduled for tomorrow.
