An unsettling string of incidents has left multiple individuals seriously injured in separate accidents across the country, demonstrating once again the unpredictable perils that can befall anyone on our streets and highways.
Yesterday night in Milwaukee, a 60-year-old was left in critical condition following a hit-and-run incident, as reported by TMJ4. The victim was crossing the street at the intersection of 13th and Atkinson when struck by a vehicle, which subsequently fled the scene. Authorities were called to the site around 7:15 p.m., and, the injured party was hurried to a local hospital. Milwaukee Police are actively seeking the unknown suspect(s) and encourage any individuals with information to reach out.
In another incident, a Tipton man sustained serious injuries when a large piece of ice dislodged from a vehicle and shattered his windshield while he was driving on Missouri 5. The highway patrol reported, as KOMU tells us, that the 60-year-old driver veered off the road and crashed into a fence following the incident, which happened near State Route NN south of Tipton at around 5:15 p.m., the driver of the vehicle from which the ice fell remains unknown.
Moreover, a 60-year-old woman was critically injured early Thursday morning on Nimitz Highway in Honolulu, according to a statement obtained by the Star-Advertiser. The collision occurred in a marked crosswalk at the intersection with Valkenburgh Street. The driver involved, a 55-year-old, remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Speed appears to have played a role in the accident, while impairment due to alcohol or drugs does not seem to be a factor.
Police departments in the respective areas encourage public vigilance and request that any witnesses, or individuals with potentially relevant information, come forward to aid in the ongoing investigations.
