In a stride toward bolstered collaboration between military and civilian law enforcement, Chief Christopher Cook of the White Settlement Police Department has been appointed to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Civil Law Enforcement and Military Cooperation Committee. The IACP made this announcement last Wednesday, indicating the appointment would last until the end of 2027.

Cook's new role involves acting as a bridge to enhance cooperation and capitalize on shared expertise, training, research, and resources across the two sectors of law enforcement. There are 30 leaders from across the United States on the committee, including figures from both the military and civilian police forces. Chief Cook is set to bring a Texan perspective to the discussions which reportedly demand a modest commitment each month.

The working relationship between the White Settlement Police Department and military institutions is already robust. The department maintains strong connections with several military entities such as the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth and the Texas National Guard Armory, collaborating on patrolling responsibilities, and lending a hand during military installations and community events.

"I am grateful for this opportunity to serve on this committee to continue building stronger collaboration between our law enforcement profession and our Armed Forces," Chief Cook stated, as per the White Settlement Police Department. He also expressed his appreciation for the support from USN Commanding Officer/Captain Beau Hufstetler and lauded the ongoing partnership with the NAS JRB.
