The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective from 1 AM to 10 PM EST Monday. NWS are predicting snow accumulations of around 2 to 4 inches across the region, with the white stuff starting late Sunday night.
Areas including Northwestern Burlington, Ocean and Coastal Ocean in New Jersey as well as Philadelphia and parts of Chester and Montgomery in Pennsylvania, should anticipate slippery road conditions, that will likely impact both the morning and evening rush hours on Monday. According to the NWS Winter Weather Advisory, "Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes."
The weather will start off mostly sunny today, with a high of 33 degrees, and the wind chill bringing the feel down to a single digit at times. By tonight, the probability of snow increases, particularly after 5 am, which marks the onset of what could be a challenging start to the week for commuters and school runs alike.
During the day on Monday, the calm winds will become northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon, with a 100% chance of snow. Accumulations of 2 to 4 inches could potentially, snarl traffic and make for hazardous road conditions. Residents are advised to use caution and prepare for longer travel times. In the advisory, the NWS states, "Snow will overspread the region late Sunday night and intensify through Monday morning. It will then gradually taper off Monday afternoon and evening."
The rest of the week looks to bring clearer skies with a respite from the snowfall. Sunny conditions are anticipated Tuesday through Thursday, with daytime highs hovering around the freezing mark.
