Boise State defeated UNLV 71-62 last night at the Thomas & Mack Center, improving their record to 16-7 overall and 8-4 in the Mountain West Conference. Tyson Degenhart led the Broncos with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks, which contributed significantly to their win, according to AP News.

UNLV, now 11-12 overall and 5-7 in conference play, struggled throughout the game. As per the UNLV Athletics, Dedan Thomas Jr. scored 20 points for the Runnin' Rebels, and Bear Cherry added 19 points. Boise State's Andrew Meadow contributed 14 points, while Alvaro Cardenas and Javan Buchanan each had 13 points and eight rebounds.

Boise State led 33-29 at halftime, and after the break, they extended their lead with a 9-0 run. UNLV attempted a comeback with a 6-0 run, but Boise State regained control and extended their lead to nine points with 1:26 left in the game.

UNLV Coach Kevin Kruger commented on the loss, acknowledging the team's mistakes and the impact they had on the game. "Against a good team like Boise, we had a couple of lapses that ended up costing us. They did a good job of making us pay. Our confidence is rattled and we were a little hesitant. We just need that spark and it is going to turn things for the better. When we were aggressive, when we made plays for each other, when we attacked the rim, when we did what we needed to do defensively, sliding and staying in front and knowing what each other wanted to do, we had some really good possessions. But just a couple of possessions with offensive rebounds and a good play made here or there is what made the difference for them," Kruger said, according to UNLV Athletics. He emphasized the need for greater aggressiveness and teamwork.

Boise State outperformed UNLV in rebounds and second-chance points, while UNLV struggled with shooting from three-point range, converting only 1 of 16 attempts. Both teams are preparing for their next games, with Boise State hosting San Jose State on Friday and UNLV facing Wyoming on Saturday.
