A 15-year-old Bronx teen has been arrested and charged with several counts, including reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and criminal trespass after allegedly commandeering an empty subway train in Brooklyn for a joyride last month, authorities say. According to The New York Post, the young suspect, who reportedly has a history of legal troubles, was arrested by the NYPD's Warrant Squad at NYCHA's Vladeck Houses on the Lower East Side.

Running across various parts of the city, the teen's alleged misdeeds stretch beyond just the recent incident. He is accused of hopping onto the controls of an R train at 36th Street in Sunset Park on January 25. After being nabbed on February 6, police charged the youth, walking into his Bronx school, with an assortment of alleged offenses. His past misdemeanors include eight previous arrests, among them two for petit larceny and one for criminal possession of stolen property, relayed by the same New York Post report.

Further incidents attributed to the 15-year-old include an alleged assault in March. The teen is accused of hurling a wooden paddle at a passerby while hanging off the back of a 5 train with two others near Pelham Parkway in the Bronx. ABC7 New York reported that school safety agents discovered MTA gear in the boy's bag, including an orange MTA vest, transit radios, train keys, and an MTA identification card when he set off a metal detector at Alfred E. Smith Technical High School.

The group of teens, with the boy in question, allegedly reached speeds of roughly 30 mph, and part of their unscheduled journey occurred on active train lines. The cohort's efforts to conceal their identities by covering up the train's camera with a black marker were mentioned by police, as acquired through an earlier New York Post article. They even posted a video of their daredevil stunt on Instagram, according to sources.
