A tragic turn of events unfolded last month when a collision between a Ford Fusion and an e-scooter rider, which initially left the rider critically injured, ultimately led to the rider's death. The collision, which took place on January 7, around 11:51 p.m., occurred on S. Nellis Boulevard south of E. Twain Avenue in Las Vegas, as detailed in a report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The e-scooter rider, a 42-year-old male whose name has yet to be released, was reportedly on the west sidewalk before veering into the southbound traffic lanes for an unknown reason. It was there that the vehicle, driven by 26-year-old Las Vegas resident Ashley Dupre, collided with the scooter. Dupre stayed at the scene following the collision and was found not to be impaired at the time of the incident, indicating compliance with the immediate aftermath of the tragic event, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The pedestrian's death is the 18th traffic fatality in Las Vegas this year, highlighting a dangerous start to 2025. The accident reminds us how fragile life can be, even in busy city traffic. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is still investigating the details of the incident.
