Yesterday morning, a CSX freight train collided with a vehicle in Aberdeen after the driver, an elderly individual, failed to obey an automatic crossing signal. According to a report by WMAR2 News, the Aberdeen police responded to the incident near Beards Hill Road Extended and North Philadelphia Boulevard around 8:45 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the car, an abandoned Toyota with significant rear-end damage, situated about 30 feet from the train tracks.
The elderly driver, the car's sole occupant, was subsequently found by police walking nearby. Remarkably, no injuries were reported from the incident. The investigation quickly revealed that the driver had failed to properly heed the railroad crossing device, which was actively alerting the oncoming train. Train traffic in the vicinity was temporarily halted, but no derailment occurred during the incident.
Adding to the account, WBALTV reported in a release that the freight train stopped near Havre de Grace after hitting the car. The brief disruption affected another train movement in the area, though operations were resumed following the investigation.
