The Fairfield Police Department reported an incident that unfolded last Monday. Surveillance cameras in a maintenance yard at the 3200 block of North Texas Street initially tipped off the officers to two individuals trespassing on the closed property.

The subsequent pursuit saw police deploy drones to scout the area and officers on foot combing through the lot. The situation escalated when two men were seen dashing across the eastbound I-80, attempting to elude the law enforcement on their tail. Even with strong winds, Officer Cuevas managed to expertly guide the drone and consistently update the officers on the ground about the suspects' movements.

The Fairfield Police Department's social media post detailed how the California Highway Patrol's aerial unit was pivotal in this nighttime chase. CHP Air arrived just in time to direct ground officers toward one of the suspects.

Eventually, law enforcement apprehended 37-year-old Gilberto Lopez. Lopez now faces charges for burglary, possession of burglary tools and must also confront outstanding warrants previously issued against him. After his capture, he was transported and booked into the County Jail.
