An early morning collision in Crockery Township left a Greenville woman hospitalized but expected to make a full recovery. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office reported to WOODTV that the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. today at the intersection of M-104 and M-231.

The 24-year-old woman was driving her Kia Soul eastbound on M-104 when her vehicle was struck by a Chevy Silverado. The pickup driver was making a left turn onto M-231. According to the sheriff's office, the Kia had the green light while going through the intersection. WOODTV initially misreported that the Kia was heading westbound. The woman was pinned in her car after the impact and had to be extricated by the Crockery Township Fire Department. She was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

WZZM 13 noted that the woman had to be extricated by Crockery Fire personnel before being hospitalized. The driver of the Silverado, a 50-year-old man from Pierson, was unharmed in the collision but was later cited for failing to yield the right of way. The identity of the drivers has not been disclosed by the authorities.

WHTC also covered the incident, adding that the crash happened around dawn as the eastbound compact vehicle entered the intersection. Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong was among the first responders at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by the local authorities to understand the full circumstances of the incident. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, and the intersection at M-104 and M-231 was cleared for morning traffic following the first responders' swift action.
