The Helldorado Days Parade will return to downtown Las Vegas this spring, featuring a mix of culture, tradition, and local elements. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to noon, and will take place on Fourth Street between Gass and Stewart avenues, according to the city's news release.
This year, companies can earn Corporate Challenge points by participating in the parade or the Mayor’s Walk. The parade is limited to 100 entries, and applications are being accepted online until April 18 or until capacity is reached, whichever comes first, as stated in the city's announcement.
Cash prizes are available for local schools and artists. The Las Vegas Centennial Commission is offering $1,000 for school marching bands and $1,500 for quality floats, with a limit of two entries per school. Artists can receive $1,000 if their work reflects the essence of Las Vegas life and history. Entries will be judged during the event, with prizes awarded in several categories, including Best Casino Float and the best representations of music and historical themes.
Parade organizers are inviting a variety of entries that represent the spirit of Las Vegas, from its origins in 1905 as a railroad town to its cultural and historical growth. Entrants are encouraged to focus on themes of heritage, development, or future vision. The event coincides with the city’s 120th anniversary of its land auction on May 15, just days after the parade, offering a chance to reflect on Las Vegas' evolution since its early days.
The parade provides an opportunity for groups and individuals to showcase their community pride through floats, bands, or artistic displays. Local cultural and historical groups, schools, artists, car and motorcycle clubs, businesses, and service organizations are invited to participate.
