The City of Henderson Police Department has initiated a focused effort to bring down the instances of impaired driving on their streets. Starting this past Saturday and running through February 23, the department has partnered with the 'Joining Forces' program to enhance traffic enforcement, specifically targeting impaired drivers. According to their city's announcement, a major objective is to "make our roadways safer and bring greater awareness to the importance of safe and sober driving."
In this intensified patrol period, Henderson Police are set to thoroughly monitor roadways and actively look to stop and prevent the all too common occurrence of tragedies birthed by the decision to drive impaired. The police department's statement indicates that "During this time, Henderson Police will aim to reduce tragedies caused by people driving while impaired."
Henderson Police are stepping up efforts to combat drunk and impaired driving, emphasizing the need for motorists to act responsibly. As part of their ongoing campaign, they urge drivers to choose a sober driver, take a taxi, or use a ride-sharing service.
The Henderson Police Department's efforts have been significantly bolstered by a sizable allocation of $179,000 in federal funding, as facilitated through the Nevada Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety for the 2025 Joining Forces program. These funds are specifically earmarked to support enhanced enforcement initiatives. This reveals a determined intention to not merely punish, but also to educate and hopefully transform the driving habits of those within the community. As communicated by the police department, "Nevada’s goal is to have zero fatalities on our roads," as mentioned on the city's official website.
