The streets of Henderson saw increased safety following the conclusion of the Henderson Police Department's recent campaign under the Joining Forces Program. From February 8 through Sunday, the department stopped 651 motorists in an effort to address dangerous driving habits, leading to two arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), according to an announcement from the City of Henderson.
Running through the numbers, a significant portion of the stops—319 to be exact—were for speeding violations. Distracted driving, included but not limited to the use of cell phones while behind the wheel, accounted for another 9 citations. An assortment of 133 citations were doled out for various other traffic-related offenses.
Funding has been a crucial component of this initiative, with the Henderson Police Department receiving a solid $179,000 in federal funding. This financial boost was provided by the Nevada Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety particularly for the Joining Forces program of 2025. The program's design puts a spotlight on enhanced enforcement and education, with the ultimate goal being a reduction in fatalities and injuries on Nevada's roadways.
Throughout the year, enforcement efforts will focus on key issues such as pedestrian safety, seat belt use, and addressing speeding, distracted, and impaired driving. Supported by the grant, these targeted enforcement events are part of the state's strategy to protect residents and visitors from the risks associated with modern transportation.
