In a turn of events, attorney Tony Buzbee has withdrawn the rape lawsuit against Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, as per court documents released Friday. The Houston lawyer initially filed the suit in December, leveling grave accusations that Jay-Z and fellow rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in 2000. The disturbing allegations stem from an incident said to have taken place after an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty, reported FOX 26 Houston.

The dismissal, filed with prejudice, means that the claim cannot be refiled in the same format against the acclaimed musician. Jay-Z, responding to the suit's withdrawal, labelled the accusations as "frivolous, fictitious and appalling," according to a statement issued by his entertainment company Roc Nation, and reasserted by BBC News. Represented by lawyer Alex Spiro, Jay-Z had consistently denied the allegations, positioning them as nothing more than a malicious attempt at tarnishing his reputation and extorting money.

Jay-Z's candid expression of relief revealed personally felt injustices, shedding light on the impact such allegations have on individuals and their loved ones. "The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed," he told BBC News. After being refused bail three times, tensely awaiting trial, his legal team steadfastly claims his innocence: "For months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed forward by an attorney more focused on media headlines than legal merit," Diddy's attorneys asserted in a proclamation echoed by BBC News.
