
Julius Jefferson was appointed Interim Police Chief of Wake Forest last Saturday, following the retirement of Chief Jeff Leonard. Jefferson has been with the police department since 1996 and holds an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor's Degree from UNC Pembroke, completed two years ago, according to the Town of Wake Forest.
Jefferson's career in law enforcement began as a Detention Officer at Wake County Sheriff's Office and progressed through roles such as Patrol Officer and Impact Captain. His dedication to public safety led him to serve on the Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force, as reported by the Town of Wake Forest.
The interim police chief of Wake Forest, Jefferson, is known for his community involvement and hobbies like movies, carpentry, and car shows. According to Town Manager Kip Padgett, "Julius Jefferson's experience and community knowledge make him the perfect person to succeed Chief Leonard." The search for a permanent replacement will finish later this year, as stated by the Town of Wake Forest.
