The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has provided an update on the regional weather forecast, which indicates a period of seasonal temperatures paired with gusty conditions for the remainder of the work week. The forecast suggests a reprieve from the winds and a warming trend over the weekend and into the next week, with no significant precipitation expected in the near future. This information is key for local residents and visitors planning outdoor activities or travel, especially as winds are anticipated to impact boating conditions on Lake Mohave potentially.

Today and continuing through Wednesday night, the Las Vegas area will see "general, non-impactful northerly breezes," as per the NWS's forecast discussion. Due to the terrain, gusts may range between 15-25 MPH, with stronger winds developing in the lower Colorado River Valley. Nevertheless, the NWS states that "the probability for impactful wind gusts over 40 MPH is 30% or less," so major wind impacts are unlikely. On Lake Mohave, however, boaters should be prepared for occasional winds up to 25 MPH and waves up to 2 feet during the morning and early afternoon.

These conditions are expected to subside by Wednesday, replaced by light winds through the day, ahead of another system set to approach the Southern Great Basin area Wednesday night. While some low-end precipitation chances are mentioned for far northern Lincoln County, they are so minimal that the NWS does not anticipate any measurable precipitation at the surface. Temperatures through Wednesday night are predicted to be "few degrees above normal for this time of the year," according to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas.

Looking ahead to Thursday through Monday, the weather is expected to remain close to normal with "increased winds will be the main impact" as a slider-like system moves through the area. The National Weather Service report details that some zones in northwest have a 40 to 60 percent chance of experiencing strong winds on Thursday, while the lower Colorado River Valley may see a 50 to 70 percent chance of winds up to 40 mph on Friday. As for temperatures, they are set to rise over the weekend, reaching mid-70s and potentially an 80-degree high in Las Vegas by the following Tuesday.

For aviation interests at Harry Reid International Airport and surrounding areas, winds should gradually decrease by the evening, with no operationally significant weather expected. In the more distant terrain, low ceilings may obscure higher mountains early Wednesday morning. For those on the ground, spotters are encouraged to report any significant weather events according to normal procedures.
