After a series of burglaries in the District, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officials confirmed the arrest of two individuals linked to several break-ins. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspects were connected to four burglaries on Friday last week, and one suspect was also linked to 20 additional crimes dating back to December of last year.

On the morning of Friday last week, MPD units responded to several burglaries in quick succession across the city. The incidents shared similarities, and officers tracked a suspect vehicle before apprehending 19-year-old Ryan Howell and a 16-year-old juvenile.

Howell, from Northwest, and the juvenile now face multiple charges of Burglary Two, as investigators connected them to the early morning break-ins. The locations affected included I Street NW, Eckington Place NE, and several areas along 7th and 9th Streets NW.

The investigation expanded when MPD detectives linked Howell to a series of burglaries from December 2024. These crimes, including break-ins at the 200 block of K Street NW and the 1500 block of East Capitol Street NE. The majority of the charges stem from December 2, 2024, when several businesses were targeted.

The investigation is ongoing. The Metropolitan Police Department encourages anyone with information to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411, with a potential $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
