Residents in Milwaukee and much of southern Wisconsin are experiencing another day of bitter cold, with the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan reporting early morning wind chill values plunging to near -20 degrees in parts of far southwestern Wisconsin and negative teens below zero in the rest of the region, as per the National Weather Service.
Thursday's forecast promises a slight chance of snow before 8 am followed by potential flurries between 8 and 9 am, while mostly cloudy skies with a high near 25 degrees and wind chill values ranging between -5 and 5 are expected; this according to the National Weather Service—northwest winds maintain at 5 to 15 mph, the chance of precipitation holding steadfast at 20 percent.
Moving into the evening, the clouds are predicted to clear somewhat, leaving Milwaukee residents with mostly clear skies and a low hovering around 6 degrees, yet despite the lower actual temperatures, wind chill values should sit mildly warmer between zero and five due to quieter northwestern winds at 5 to 10 mph, as reported by the National Weather Service.
The rest of the week appears to show a break from precipitation, sporting sunny conditions on Friday with highs around 25 and wind chill values stubbornly gripping the -5 to 5 range, a mostly clear Friday night with a low near 9, and Southwest wind circling around 10 mph providing only a slight relief from the cold; the outlook for the upcoming days continues with mostly sunny to partly sunny skies, and while temperatures are set to rise gradually, the National Weather Service outlines no immediate hazardous weather concerns, leaving the picture of calm if chilly, mid-February days intact.
Hazardous weather is not anticipated through the coming week, yet as always, the National Weather Service encourages residents in East Central, South Central, and Southeast Wisconsin to stay updated—a sentiment mirrored by Marquette, Green Lake, Fond du Lac, and adjacent counties reflected in the Hazardous Weather Outlook which states “no hazardous weather is expected at this time,” further noting that “spotter activation will not be needed.”
